Meeting with a potential client the other day consolidated my thoughts on how people just don’t seem to understand the importance of building a brand the right way, the first time. All too often when we meet with entrepreneurs to discuss their new enterprise and to quote on a ‘logo’, it seems that they woke up that morning with an idea to start a business.

The processes involved in creating a great brand stretch far beyond creating a cute logo. A huge percentage of business people we meet with don’t have a marketing plan, they don’t have a mission statement and haven’t identified their unique selling proposition (USP).

It is extremely difficult to create a brand identity when only a fraction of the story can be provided to a creative or brand agency. The client generally ends up with a logo… not a brand. Down the track things can unravel and time and money are wasted trying to correct problems that needed to be addressed in the early stages of the business’ development.
